› Microscopic Features:

• Very large erythroid precursor with intensely blue and often vacuolated cytoplasm
• Nucleus with viral changes: Pale to moderate purple inclusion-like nucleoli or inclusions

› Normal % blood-PB, marrow-BM, lymphoid tissue-LN:

• PB: None
• BM: None
• LN: None

› May Resemble:

• Pronormoblast [Compare]
• Basophilic normoblast [Compare]
• Myeloblast [Compare]
• Metastatic Carcinoma cells

› Differential Diagnoses:

Malignancy (e.g. MDS) CMV infection (typically involves WBCs)

› Classic Immunophenotype:

• N/A
