  • Abnormal cytoplasmic inclusions invlolving the white blood cells (neutrophils, monocytes, eosinophils and lymphocytes)
  • Variably sized large aggregates of purple/blue/red granules
› Normal % blood-PB, marrow-BM, lymphoid tissue-LN:

› May Resemble:
  • Eosinophil
  • Segmented Neutrophil
  • Band Neutrophil
  • Neutrophil with toxic granules

› Misc:
  • Chediak Higashi syndrome: Caused from abnormal fusion of primary granules which results in a malfunctioning WBC with a diminished phagocytic capability. The syndrome is characterized by Pancytopenia, Neuropathy, Oculocuteneous Albinism, hepatosplenomegaly, lymphadenopathy, and recurrent infections.
