Bone marrow serous fat atrophy

This usually refers to a hypocellular bone marrow with fat atrophy, and deposition of extracellular "gelatinous-like" material. This may be due to a damaged hematopoietic inductive microenvironment in the bone marrow and may be secondary to therapy (e.g. chemotherapy), HIV, or severe malnutrition.
