TPO
a.k.a. Thrombopoietin is a glycoprotein hormone involved in the regulation of platelet production by promoting the proliferation and differentiation of megakaryocytes in the bone marrow. It is produced by the liver and kidney. Currently it is not used as a therapeutic agent. Theoretical uses include platelet count recovery after myelosuppressive chemotherapy, and platelet procurement for donation.
