Activated partial thromboplastin time

Also abbreviated as aPTT. An in vitro assay for evaluating the intrinsic (and common) pathway of coagulation which involves mixing and incubating the patient's plasma with phospholipid; calcium chloride is then added and the time it takes for a clot to form is measured.
