Autologous transfusion

Transfusion of a person's own blood or blood components. It is most commonly used when someone with a scheduled surgery banks his/her own blood days before the procedure, primarily to reduce the risk of certain infection or incompatibility associated with an allogeneic (non-self) transfusion.
