Bg(a) antigen

The Bg(a) antigen belongs to the HLA antigen system. Anti-Bg(a) antibodies are usually formed in response to transfusion or pregnancy, and rarely cause any clinically significant hemolytic transfusion reactions or hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN). Crossmatch-compatible RBC units may be provided.
