Js(a) antigen

The Js(a)-antigens belongs to the Kell group. The anti-Js(a) antibodies are acquired after red cell exposure during transfusion or pregnancy. Anti-Js(a) antibodies can cause acute or delayed hemolytic transfusion reactions or hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN).
