Prothrombin time

Abbreviated as PT, it is often used along with a partial thromboplastin time (PTT) to help determine the cause of unexplained bleeding or inappropriate blood clotting. The PT evaluates the coagulation factors VII, X, V, II and I (fibrinogen).
