Type and crossmatch

Serologic testing sequence to identify and confirm a patient’s blood type, identify any antibodies present in the patient’s serum, and test units of blood in the inventory that would be compatible for a transfusion. Typically ordered when the likelihood of the patient requiring a transfusion is greater than 50%.
