Erythropoietin

a.k.a EPO is a glycoprotein hormone that stimulates erythropoiesis. It is mainly produced by the liver during the fetal period and by the kidney in adults. Manufactured EPO is typically used to treat anemia due to chronic renal disease, myelodysplasia, and anemia associated with cancer treatment (post chemotherapy and radiation).
