Hemophilia B

An inherited X-linked bleeding disorder resulting from Factor IX deficiency. Less common than Hemophilia A. Symptoms are similar to Hemophilia A (see Hemophilia A). The patient will have an elevated PTT and normal PT and bleeding time. Confirmed by low serum levels of Factory IX. Hemophilia B is treated with replacement of Factor IX.
