Methylmalonic acid

a.k.a. MMA is a Dicarboxylic acid. When linked to coenzyme A, methylmalonyl-CoA is converted to succinyl-CoA using vitamin B12 as a cofactor in the Kreb cycle. Vitamin B12 deficiency causes elevated levels of methylmalonic acid (MMA). See vitamin B12 deficiency.
