Segmented neutrophils

A segmented neutrophil is also referred to as a polymorphonuclear neutrophil (PMN). In a normal CBC, they are the most abundant white blood cells. They are also the first responders recruited to the site of injury such as inflammation which may be secondary to a bacterial infection, environmental exposure, and some cancers.
