CMV-negative

With regards to blood products, CMV-negative indicates a blood product from a CMV seronegative donor. CMV can be dangerous to individuals with weakened immune systems, newborns and people undergoing organ transplants. For these individuals, having a blood donor who is CMV negative (never been exposed) is important.
