Fetal-maternal hemorrhage

Also known as FMH. Occurs when fetal blood enters the maternal circulation from any number of causes, which can lead to development of maternal antibodies directed at red blood cells of the fetus and potentially result in hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn.
