Fibrinogen

a.k.a Factor I. Glycoprotein synthesized in the liver that is involved in coagulation cascade. Fibrinogen is cleaved by thrombin to form fibrin. Fibrin is then cross-linked by Factor XIII to form a clot. Note: Fibrinogen is also an acute-phase reactant which is elevated during inflammation.
